Root Chervil -- Chaerophyllum Bulbosum

Another classic of European ancient vegetables, now widely used in permaculture gardens.  A giant plant of the carrot family that produces small (5 cm or so) carrot-shaped roots with a delicious flavour reminiscent of chestnut.  The only trick is to keep them in a cool place for at least a month before eating them.  A great storing vegetable, in other words.  The seeds germinate readily, provided they are planted in the fall.  The flowers attract all sorts of pollinators, and the plant can be ornamental in the right location.

If you only order seeds, shipping is much cheaper.  Heavy tubers and bulbs are expensive to ship, seeds are not.
